  • C.J. Irons CC / Construction Project Manager / Jan, 2014 – Present (Five Years & Eight Months)

    I was retained and promoted after the completion of my studies and moved into a managerial role in the organization. I was tasked with supplying the management resources to the sites, ensuring that projects were completed on time and within budget. My career later evolved and required me to take up a tenant-facing role - which included acquisition, lease negotiations, fit-out installations and post-handover management of our clients.

    I joined the firm in 2012 during the completion of my Honours degree, and was immediately required to take a hands-on approach to running the construction site. I was the right hand man to the Construction Foreman, ensuring that all daily concrete related work was executed to the engineering design. I was tasked with managing the labour force, as well as managing the on-site Health & Safety file and policies.

  • Berakah Educational Foundation / Project Volunteer / Feb, 2011 – Apr, 2011 (Three Months)

    We assembled a team of Construction Management and Quantity Surveying students to assist with the construction of prefabricated classrooms for the Berakah Educational Foundation in the township of Mamelodi, north of Pretoria, as part of a community outreach programme.

A 5000m² (approximately 54,000ft sq) three-storey concrete office building, with a double level excavated super-basement. Tenant installations included RW Africa Attorneys (2014 / Three Months / 1626m² / 17,500 ft sq), Advanced Health Groenkloof Offices, Day Clinic and Consultation Rooms (2015 / Six Months / 1626m² / 17,500 ft sq) and Lekhu Pilson Attorneys (2019 / 2 Months / 858m² / 9,200 ft sq). Walker Creek III / Construction Manager / Apr, 2013 - Aug, 2015

A 5000m² (approximately 54,000ft sq) three-storey concrete office building, with a double level excavated super-basement. Tenant installations included Hollard Insurance (2015 / Three Months / 858m² / 9,200 ft sq), Tau Phalane Incorporated Attorneys (2015 & 2019 / Two Months / 1195m² / 12,800 ft sq), the Panagora Group (2019 / Two Months / 768m² / 8,300 ft sq), Schutte de Jong Incorporated Attorneys (2019 / Two Months / 430m² / 4,600ft sq) and Dyason Incorporated Attorneys (2019 / Three Months / 1131m² / 12,200 ft sq). Tenant Management

After the completion of Walker Creek IV, the company focus shifted towards filling all vacancies and development of new properties were put on hold. I've subsequently developed a formidable set of tenant-facing skills, ranging from new acquisitions to the management of our office parks. I'm in charge of the entire fit-out process, right through to post-handover tenant management. I am the primary contact between the tenants and our support teams, ensuring that any complaints or maintenance issues are resolved as soon as possible. Read more...
